Musée & École Giacometti, the first museum dedicated exclusively to Alberto Giacometti, is set to open its doors in Paris in late 2028.

A new museum honouring the life and legacy of Alberto Giacometti is set to open in Paris. The Musée & École Giacometti is scheduled to open in the latter half of 2028 in the former Gare des Invalides, according to the Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti, and will have the largest collection of works by the Swiss sculptor globally. The museum houses 10,000 artefacts, including thousands of drawings, over 400 sculptures, 100 paintings, an extensive collection of decorative art objects, prints, entire studio contents, and complete archives, as stated by the foundation's director, Catherine Grenier, to The Art Newspaper. The collection encompasses many eras and will feature masterpieces from Giacometti’s earliest to current periods, many of which have not been before exhibited.

The upcoming institution extends the foundation's presence in its existing location within the city's 14th arrondissement. Of its 6,000 square meters, 3,000 will be allocated to exhibitions, featuring permanent installations of Giacometti's work alongside pieces from diverse modern and contemporary artists. The remaining portion will consist of a bookshop, restaurant, café, and educational area for non-degree art courses. A replica of the artist's studio, where he resided and created from 1926 until his demise in 1966, will also be displayed.
