Amazon MGM Studios has officially unveiled the initial glimpse of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, signifying the commencement of production for Prime Video’s much awaited Tomb Raider series.

Unveiled to align with the initial days of filming, the image presents the Game of Thrones veteran as the international explorer, promising a "massive scale" reimagining of the series. Turner heads a cast that combines established favourites with newcomers; Jason Isaacs assumes the role of Lara’s uncle, Atlas DeMornay, while Bill Paterson depicts the loyal butler Winston. Sigourney Weaver portrays Evelyn Wallis, an enigmatic new character defined as a "high-flying woman" intent on leveraging Croft's abilities.

Directed by creator and writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) in collaboration with co-showrunner Chad Hodge, the series seeks to consolidate the Tomb Raider timeline, linking the live-action narrative with forthcoming video game installments such as Legacy of Atlantis. Under the production of Crystal Dynamics, the project aims to present a genuine yet innovative interpretation of the dual-pistol-wielding heroine. Director Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shogun) will guide the visual direction as the team develops a universe that encompasses both consoles and streaming platforms.
