Rolex Launches First Official Book on the Oyster Perpetual Submariner Watch

In collaboration with Wallpaper*, the book provides an extensive examination of the Submariner, the inaugural divers' watch officially certified waterproof to a depth of 100 meters (330 ft).

The world's most renowned diving watch finally assumes the central role in its narrative, penned by the esteemed historian, storyteller, and horological writer Nick Foulkes. The Oyster Perpetual Submariner – the watch that enabled deep-sea exploration – is the inaugural authorized comprehensive account of the authentic history of the world's first wristwatch resistant to water at a depth of 100 meters (or, as Rolex regularly asserts, waterproof to that depth).

The book, published in a bilingual version (English and French) spanning 252 pages, is the outcome of a collaboration between Rolex and the renowned design magazine Wallpaper*. In their press announcement endorsing this book, released on 16 September, Rolex indicates that this is merely the inaugural installment in a series of publications. This initial endeavor, which we have yet to peruse, promises far more than a mere chronological narrative of historical and technical subjects. Foulkes introduces drama, encompassing the narratives of the "pioneers who evaluated prototypes."
