Less than a month following its theatrical release, Lionsgate has officially announced the production of a sequel to The Housemaid, with actor Sydney Sweeney and filmmaker Paul Feig confirmed to return. Since its debut on December 19, the psychological thriller has achieved significant box office success, accumulating $133 million USD inside its initial two-and-a-half weeks. The studio has approved a sequel entitled The Housemaid’s Secret, leveraging this momentum. The idea, derived from the second novel in Freida McFadden’s acclaimed trilogy, has allegedly been under development for several months. Lionsgate intends to commence filming later this year, with Feig, Sweeney, and co-star Michele Morrone all reprising their roles.

The original film centres on Millie Calloway (Sydney Sweeney), a young lady with a criminal history who secures a live-in position with the affluent Winchester family. She quickly discovers a network of sinister secrets and treacherous manipulation within their residence, recognising that her situation is considerably more precarious than she had anticipated. With the sequel now officially underway, viewers can anticipate the next installment in Millie's journey.
