With “Spotlight on the Shadows”, Graceland London invites visitors to explore her intoxicating, dystopian worlds which reveal the ‘darker side of the human ego’.

Artist Graceland London is poised to debut at Halcyon Gallery as part of its exhibition schedule. Spotlight on the Shadows marks the artist's inaugural solo exhibition with the gallery, showcasing a comprehensive collection of 30 artworks produced over the past two years. The collection of works offers a visual and artistic perspective on the entirety of her bright, complex, dark, and playful style.

Halcyon Gallery's curatorial staff has collaborated with Graceland London to convert 29 New Bond Street into an immersive environment, enhancing the impact of her ethereal sculptures through three-dimensional installations that replicate her visual concepts across the gallery.

Graceland London’s training in 3D animation and design has significantly informed her practice. It has led her to invent an array of unique characters and motifs that are a part of her distinctive visual language. The universe that she creates beyond the picture surface is conceived through flourescent candy colours and playful articulations of form.

Her extensive expertise in art history and intrigue with the Old Masters profoundly impact her work. Her works often reference art historical traditions, utilizing oil painting techniques akin to those of 15th-century Northern European masters like Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch.

Nonetheless, she also reinterprets and repurposes tradition to engage with modern themes. Graceland London illuminates the issues of 21st-century existence through an alternative world, employing symbols and iconography sourced from both art history and modern society. Her artwork explores mental health, addiction, conspiracy theories, conspicuous spending, and commercialism, alongside various other subjects that define contemporary society, employing a balanced blend of pessimism and humor.

Alongside the debut of original paintings at Halcyon Gallery, the London-born artist will unveil a collection of limited-edition Spotlight on the Shadows prints in collaboration with sister gallery Castle Fine Art.

Graceland London articulates: “My artistic methodology is a synthesis of tradition and innovation.” I employ the flat acrylic method while integrating a singular application of traditional oil paint in each piece. This contrast enables me to combine the brilliance and immediacy of acrylics with the depth of oils. I intentionally infuse my work with depth and texture to enhance visual intrigue. Through the integration of these two mediums, I intend to create a dynamic visual experience that reflects the convergence of tradition and modernity in art.

Paul Green, the president and creator of Halcyon Gallery, expressed: “We are delighted to include Graceland London in our gallery’s collection.” Her audacious and inventive technique in painting distinguishes her as a burgeoning artist to observe. Kate Brown, the gallery's creative director, stated: "Graceland London's artwork invites viewers into a domain defined by her distinctive perspective, addressing contemporary themes and challenges." Her work resonates deeply with contemporary audiences.
