Introducing the Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre FB 1RES.3 Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition – a limited-edition masterpiece that fuses 18th-century inspiration with contemporary mechanical accuracy.

The Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre FB 1RES.3 Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition epitomizes horological artistry, innovation, and a commitment to superior craftsmanship. This limited-edition watch, designed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Singapore’s Sincere Fine Watches, combines historical influence with contemporary technical prowess. Ferdinand Berthoud, a brand established in 2015 by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard and President of Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, has persistently advanced the frontiers of mechanical horology, and this invention perpetuates that legacy. This also befits the renown of historical watchmaker Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807), after whom the brand is named.

The Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre FB 1RES.3 Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition reinterprets the iconic octagonal case associated with Ferdinand Berthoud since 2015. The 44mm case contains a satin-brushed salmon dial crafted from gilded 4N nickel-silver, showcasing the renowned Calibre FB-RES.FC through a wide aperture from 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock, which displays three bridges converging at the dial's center. This caliber exemplifies Ferdinand Berthoud's engineering prowess, employing a fusee-and-chain transmission method in conjunction with a remontoir d’égalité for accuracy. Inspired by 18th-century maritime chronometers, the timepiece features a minimalist design that emphasizes hours, minutes, dead-beat seconds, and a power reserve indicator.

The salmon dial, shielded by a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, showcases the elaborate skeletonization and embellishments that underscore the movement's intricacy. The power reserve indicator is shown at 9 o’clock.

The watch's mechanism exemplifies precision engineering and artisanal craftsmanship. The Calibre FB-RES.FC operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour (vph) and possesses a power reserve of 50 hours, utilizing a fusee-and-chain system to ensure consistent torque during its operation. The system, consisting of 790 components, operates in conjunction with the remontoir d’égalité, which stores and manages energy before providing a consistent force to the balance. This precise mechanism guarantees accurate timekeeping and propels the dead-beat seconds hand in one-second increments.

The movement's remarkable craftsmanship is evident through the caseback, which is equipped with sapphire crystal. Bridges and mainplates, constructed from nickel-silver, are skeletonized and meticulously hand-finished with beveled edges, totaling a combined length of two meters and necessitating over 250 hours for completion. Every wheel, screw, and bridge is intricately adorned, exemplifying the craftsmanship characteristic of Ferdinand Berthoud.

This edition omits the laser-engraved Sincere insignia on the caseback, providing a clear view of the sophisticated mechanism inside. The platinum case features Sincere’s Platinum Jubilee insignia engraved along its side, subtly yet significantly marking the relationship. Notwithstanding its intricacy, the timepiece retains visual coherence, embodying Ferdinand Berthoud’s philosophy of safeguarding classic horology while integrating contemporary methodologies.

The Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre FB 1RES.3 Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition is restricted to three units and will be offered at Sincere Fine Watches stores for a retail price of SGD 452,800.
