This week is significant for Manhattan's retail landscape with the openings of two prominent establishments: the Parisian department store Printemps on Wall Street and Dolce and Gabbana's large five-story location at 695 Madison Avenue, previously the site of the Hermès flagship store. For those still enthusiastic about the brand's exceptional, tailoring-focused autumn collection, this news is particularly thrilling as a specific space will be allocated for bespoke services. Clients can enjoy individual fittings with experienced tailors while savoring coffee or cocktails. Guests who missed the show experienced a two-part runway extravaganza, the latter segment serving as a resplendent homage to Old Hollywood, showcasing elegant tuxedos, brilliant jewels, models with pomade-styled hair, and a backdrop of "paparazzi" capturing the moment. The ambiance of elegance persists with the inauguration of the new store today.

It would be challenging to locate a site with superior architectural heritage. The building was created by McKim, Mead, and White in the late 1920s for chocolate magnate Louis Sherry, while American architect Eric Carlson and his Parisian business, Carbondale, have provided a meticulous interior renovation. The business is collaborating with the Landmark Preservation Commission of NYC to restore the building's distinctive facade.

A black granite staircase spirals around all five stories, providing a stark contrast to the white acid-etched sapphire glass, eucalyptus wood display cases, and steel furnishings. The structure's pinnacle feature is a vast skylight that illuminates the whole space, creating an optimal chiaroscuro impression.

The store's size is an anomaly on the renowned shopping avenue, which has experienced fluctuations since the pandemic; however, Dolce and Gabbana’s enlarged presence signifies a promising transformation in the Upper East Side retail environment, further enhanced by the inauguration of multiple luxury residential developments, particularly the Armani residences.

The almost 64,000-square-foot (5,905-square-meter) store, in addition to the second-floor Sartoria space, features men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, childrenswear, beauty products, timepieces, fine jewelry, and select items from Dolce and Gabbana’s Casa collection. If you feel hungry after exploring the exquisite offerings, simply proceed to the bar and lounge on the fourth floor—what else could you require?

The Dolce&Gabbana flagship on Madison Avenue presents the brand's entire collection. Men's and women's ready-to-wear lines coexist alongside accessories, exquisite jewelry, and timepieces. The Casa Collection further establishes the brand's commitment to design beyond the realm of fashion.
