Disney Taps Global Music Icon Bad Bunny to Anchor 'Toy Story 5' Star Power

In a strategic move to broaden the demographic appeal of its flagship animated franchise, Pixar has recruited superstar Bad Bunny to voice a major new character in the upcoming theatrical installment.

Bad Bunny is officially engaged, occupied, and progressing towards limitless horizons. During his current tour, the Grammy-winning international music icon, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has recently augmented his acting portfolio with a significant Pixar movie. Disney and Pixar have recently revealed that the Puerto Rican artist will be part of the voice cast for the eagerly awaited Toy Story 5, portraying the whimsically eccentric character known as “Pizza with Sunglasses.”

Pixar officially unveiled the new character to audiences with a brief animated teaser on social media, featuring a genuine slice of pepperoni pizza adorned with black sunglasses, bouncing and giggling. The official press release characterizes Bad Bunny's role as "effortlessly stylish and mysterious. The pizza slice is part of a "small yet formidable community of neglected toys residing in an abandoned backyard shed," introducing a new dimension of humorous relief and character to the cherished series. For ardent admirers of the “Tití Me Preguntó” vocalist, this casting represents a quintessential full-circle moment. In the initial phase of the 2020 pandemic lockdown, Bad Bunny captivated his social media audience by constructing an own movie universe utilizing his collection of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, and Forky toys. Entitled “Toy Story in the Times of Coronavirus,” the endearing, low-fidelity video unequivocally conveyed his authentic affection for the franchise, rendering this official voice appearance an ideal match.

The Puerto Rican luminary joins a rather impressive ensemble. Toy Story 5 will include the return of iconic actors Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), and Joan Cusack (Jessie). A new ensemble of characters will include Greta Lee as a tech-toy tablet named Lilypad, Conan O’Brien as a potty-training toy named Smarty Pants, and Craig Robinson as a GPS hippo named Atlas.
