Combining exaggerated knot detailing with a Vibram outsole, the release pushes the skate staple into new territory.
Vans
Vans enhances its renowned footwear heritage with the imminent launch of the Vans OTW Slip-On 98 Knot Vibram collection. This new model reinterprets the original Style 98 silhouette, which became a hallmark of southern California youth culture in the late 1970s, transforming the quintessential skate shoe. The distinguishing characteristic is a large rope knot positioned squarely on the vamp, adding a sculptural and opulent visual appeal to the conventionally austere upper.

This premium update equally prioritises performance and comfort. The sneaker features a bespoke Vibram outsole with a robust tank tread, providing exceptional traction on various surfaces. Internally, improved structure is combined with a Sola Foam ADC cushioned insole for a superior, long-lasting sensation. Supplementary historic design features comprise an elevated sidewall with a glossy finish and foxing tape influenced by the original 1990s Osnaburg reinforced outsoles. Two unique material combinations delineate the launch. The initial variant features a black and off-white colour scheme constructed from textured hairy suede, whereas the second alternative combines Daphne blue and white with a robust, heavyweight canvas. Both variants have traditional elastic side panels and cushioned collars for effortless donning and doffing.
The Vans OTW Slip-On 98 Knot will release Tuesday, April 14 through Vans’ website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $110.
