Craftsmanship embodies passion, and these five individuals have discovered within themselves the same joy that Tod’s Gommino consistently evokes.

The essence of any craftsmanship is in the attitude of play. The aspiration to refine one’s skill originates from an authentic admiration for its intrinsic beauty, followed by a profound curiosity to comprehend the material aspects of the trade, including all the 'how's and 'why's. Tod's Gommino has long been an emblem of this essence, not just encapsulating delight in its design but also in its impact. The Italian Diaries centers on the latest campaign for the Gommino, featuring five young talents who, in front of the camera, effortlessly embody their passion for diverse artistic endeavors—each representing a modern interpretation of the Gommino's enduring, exuberant elegance.

The latest iteration of the Gommino showcases the distinctive rubber pebble sole and is available in luxurious suede or calf leather, presented in the brand's natural tones with a vibrant array of yellow, light blue, and orange.

The modern vitality of the legacy silhouette is enhanced in the appealing visual narrative of the campaign. Renowned photographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch is seated with actress and singer Ella Bleu Travolta, musician Lennon Gallagher, writer and director Stella Banderas, model and artist Roberto Rossellini, and singer and actor Leo Gassmann at the historical residence Villa Talamo, overlooking the rolling hills of Tuscany. The juxtaposition of monochrome and vibrant images encapsulates self-assurance and the vitality of Italian culture, while the contrasting timelines of the environment and individuals serve as a commentary on the nature of heritage as a dynamic, evolving entity — continue reading for a series of brief interviews that reveal how each talent exemplifies Tod’s and the Gommino’s enduring allure.

This campaign honors Tod's emblematic Gommino and the quintessence of modern Italian living. What aspect of your experience with the brand impressed you the most, and what significance does being part of this narrative hold for you?

Leo Gassmann: The campaign was filmed in a quintessential Tuscan farmhouse on the coastline. The individuals involved in the campaign were all exceptional professionals, and I instantly felt at ease. My colleagues, whom I met for the first time through this campaign, are exceptional individuals I will always cherish. What impressed me the most was the brand's exceptional capacity to foster a sense of family and belonging.

The Gommino loafer epitomizes enduring elegance that surpasses trends and appeals to all generations. Do you possess a personal affiliation with it? How do you integrate it into your daily attire?

Roberto Rossellini: I would readily don the loader as a quotidian footwear choice. Exceedingly comfy yet exuding an air of sophistication. I would pair it with jeans and a stylish shirt on an ordinary day. Were I to go out, I would coordinate it with an elegant suit.

The Italian lifestyle epitomizes effortless elegance and a profound appreciation for quality and craftsmanship. Which elements of the Italian lifestyle connect with you, and how do they impact your lifestyle and attire?

Stella Banderas: I greatly like the effortless sophistication of Italian style. It appears sophisticated and elegant yet remains uncontrived. There is no necessity to complicate matters unnecessarily. I appreciate the atmosphere of informality. This is reflected in the Italian lifestyle, which I aspire to represent in both my style and way of living.

All of you originate from families with deep connections to the realms of art, movies, and music. In what ways has this tradition shaped your relationship with fashion and your individual style?

Ella Bleu Travolta: Throughout my upbringing, my parents consistently endorsed my individuality and whatever pursuits I wished to undertake. This enabled me to draw inspiration from various styles and observations in my surroundings. My upbringing involved extensive exposure to vintage film and music, fostering a profound admiration for timeless aesthetics, complemented with exquisite modern designs, a domain in which Tod’s excels remarkably.

Your generation is reinterpreting elegance by merging tradition with innovation. What is your vision for the future of fashion, and what significance do you believe craftsmanship holds in contemporary luxury?

Lennon Gallagher: I believe fashion will perpetually draw inspiration from history; currently, many individuals my age are influenced by the 1990s and early 2000s while incorporating contemporary elements. My generation is not solely seeking aesthetically pleasing items; we prioritize durability, which underscores the significance of craftsmanship in the future of fashion.
