Rolls-Royce does not compromise, including in its progressive transition to electrification.

The British brand recently introduced its newest high-performance variant, the Black Badge Spectre, on Tuesday. The authoritative EV provides all that drivers anticipate from the brand, along with a notable enhancement in performance.

While luxury and comfort are often synonymous with the Rolls-Royce brand, performance has consistently been a paramount consideration. The company has been manufacturing V-12 engines since the introduction of the Phantom III in the 1930s. In 2016, the Black Badge series was introduced, marking a significant advancement. Subsequently, the business has launched high-performance variants of almost all its models, including the Ghost, Cullinan, and, most recently, the Spectre.

The Black Badge Spectre, in contrast to its predecessors, is not equipped with a 6.5-liter V-12 engine; yet, this has not hindered the engineers at Goodwood from extracting further power from the electric vehicle. Due to some modifications and the introduction of Infinity Mode, the dual-motor powertrain now produces a peak output of 659 horsepower and 792 foot-pounds of torque. The torque boosts of 82 and 128 ft lbs, respectively, render this model the most powerful production Rolls-Royce ever, a distinction formerly held by the discontinued Black Badge Wraith. A new Spirited Mode provides drivers with complete access to the EV's torque, enabling acceleration from zero to 60 mph in under 4.1 seconds.

The modifications to the powertrain have resulted in a reduction in the EV's range. When fitted with 22-inch wheels, the Black Badge can achieve a range of 266 miles on a single charge, although the normal version can go 277 miles under same conditions. The range decreases to 251 miles with 23-inch wheels, in contrast to 253 miles. The steering weight of the two-door has been augmented, and it is outfitted with improved dampers designed to boost body control. This guarantees that the newest Spectre continues to provide the brand's signature Magic Carpet Ride experience.

The exclusive Black Badge changes extend beyond the vehicle's hardware. The version is offered in a unique color, Vapor Violet, featuring an Iced Black hood and a "waft" coachline along the lower section of the vehicle. New 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminum wheels are offered in either a part-polished or entirely black finish. Anticipate additional carbon-fiber and metal accents, accompanied by five new lighting themes. The dashboard showcases a complex design that integrates 5,500 "stars" into a Piano Black "sky."

The Black Badge Spectre is anticipated to be priced higher than the normal variant. Motor1.com indicates that the high-performance electric vehicle will commence at $490,000, or $50,000 over the standard Spectre model. No release date has been disclosed; nevertheless, anticipate the model's availability for purchase in the near future.
