Rolex and Wallpaper* have partnered to publish a new book titled Oyster Perpetual Datejust - A Watch that Made History.

Following the publication of a 252-page book on the Submariner watch, Rolex collaborates once again with Wallpaper* to highlight another horological masterpiece: the Oyster Perpetual Datejust. Entitled Oyster Perpetual Datejust – A Watch that Made History, this 224-page book is the inaugural authorized history of the model that established Rolex’s distinctive date window at 3 o’clock.

Esteemed horology historian Nicholas Foulkes adeptly navigates readers through a compelling account of the Datejust's 1945 introduction as Rolex's first waterproof, self-winding chronometer wristwatch. He delineates each milestone, from Hans Wilsdorf's pivotal moment of "every discovery made to date" to the 1953 debut of the Cyclops lens that "finalized" its design, while augmenting the narrative with accounts from Rolex Testimonees, including distinguished athletes and prominent cultural personalities.
The book, presented in a quality hardcover and available in English and French from 29 September, is only provided online at Wallpaper*'s store for £100 GBP (about $136 USD) during the pre-order period. Starting in October, several authorized Rolex retailers and independent booksellers globally will stock the book.
