Ridley Scott and Hugh Jackman Are Dropping a Fresh Take on 'Treasure Island'

Powerhouse director Ridley Scott is linking up with Hugh Jackman to deliver a completely revamped, big-screen adaptation of the iconic pirate tale for the next generation of cinema fans.

Scott Free Productions and Ridley Scott are officially embarking on a new cinematic adaptation of the classic novel Treasure Island. The much-anticipated film package is generating considerable industry excitement, with Scott directing and Hugh Jackman confirmed to portray the iconic pirate Long John Silver.

The forthcoming film offers a distinctive cinematic interpretation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s renowned 1883 adventure narrative. The narrative centers on a young Jim Hawkins, who undertakes a perilous maritime expedition upon uncovering a map to a concealed treasure. Throughout his journey, Hawkins engages in a dangerous contest of intellect with the charming yet deceitful Silver. The script for the new adaptation, authored by Emmy-winning writer Jack Thorne, serves as the blueprint.

The project is being produced by Scott and Michael Pruss under the Scott Free production company. The picture presently lacks a studio affiliation, however the package is actively being marketed to prominent purchasers.
