On January 5, 2026, during CES, NVIDIA declared its intention to lead the autonomous vehicle industry, targeting the deployment of Level 4 robotaxi fleets utilising its AI chips and Drive AV software by 2027. Although automotive sales presently provide a minor portion of revenue, CEO Jensen Huang has recognised robots and autonomous driving technologies as the company's second most vital growth frontier, subsequent to general artificial intelligence.

At the conference, Huang articulated an audacious vision for the future of transportation: “We envision a future where a billion vehicles on the road will be fully autonomous.” You may either operate a robotaxi that you are leasing from another party or possess it outright.

NVIDIA's approach focusses on both business operators and consumer makers. This entails a collaboration with Uber, revealed in October 2025, to expand the world's most extensive Level 4-capable mobility network utilising advanced robotaxi and autonomous delivery fleets. NVIDIA is collaborating with Mercedes-Benz to introduce cars by late 2026 that will employ the company's technology for autonomous navigation in intricate urban settings.
