The French fashion business has launched anniversary bag variants to commemorate the 1896 inception of the LV Monogram.

Louis Vuitton is initiating a year-long worldwide commemoration to celebrate the 130th anniversary of its iconic Monogram canvas, a timeless emblem of luxury travel and fashion since its creation in 1896.
The celebrations commence on January 1 with a campaign highlighting the brand's most iconic silhouettes. In 2026, LV will commemorate its illustrious past with specialised window displays and the launch of three unique special-edition collections that reinterpret the classic pattern for contemporary times.
Conceived by Georges Vuitton as an homage to his father, brand founder Louis Vuitton, the Monogram was initially created to deter counterfeiters. Georges invented a complex amalgamation of interwoven letters and floral designs, drawing inspiration from Neo-Gothic ornamentation and Japanese aesthetics.“The Monogram is more than a motif; it is a living symbol of heritage and culture,” LV stated in a release regarding the new bag launches.
The anniversary commemorates five iconic heritage bags that have influenced the brand’s legacy: the Speedy (1930), the Keepall (1930), the Noé (1932), the Alma (1992), and the Neverfull (2007). These distinctive artefacts have functioned as mediums for renowned design directors, such as Marc Jacobs, the late Virgil Abloh, and Pharrell Williams, alongside artists like Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama.

In celebration of this fashion milestone, Louis Vuitton introduced three new anniversary collections that examine various aspects of its personality. The Monogram Origine collection reinterprets the 1896 pattern through a classic jacquard weave of linen and cotton in gentle pastel shades, drawing inspiration from historical client registries.
The VVN Collection is a tribute to leather craftsmanship, showcasing items made from natural cowhide intended to acquire a distinctive patina as they age. The Time Trunk collection employs striking trompe-l’oeil printing to imitate the metallic features and textures of classic Louis Vuitton trunks.

By connecting its 19th-century heritage with contemporary craftsmanship, Louis Vuitton seeks to attract collectors to acquire these limited edition bags while they remain available.
