Jeremy Scott and Longchamp Celebrate 20 Years of Collaboration With the New "Greetings from New York" Le Pliage

Marking two decades of continuous creative collaboration, the limited-edition canvas bag features a striking illustration of the Manhattan skyline on the front and a handwritten postcard note from Jeremy Scott on the back.

Longchamp and Jeremy Scott have unveiled the Le Pliage “Greetings from New York,” a limited-edition bag available just at La Maison Unique in SoHo and online. The release signifies two decades of partnership between the Parisian company and the American designer, coinciding with a Jeremy Scott retrospective at La Maison Unique, which will continue until July 5, and Longchamp’s involvement in the Comité Colbert “Hidden Treasure” show at The Shed. The “Greetings from New York” design adheres to the framework of three preceding works in the collaboration’s travel-postcard series — “Greetings from Paris,” “Greetings from Hollywood,” and “Greetings from Paradise” — while modernizing the concept for the city where the partnership originated. The front canvas features the Manhattan skyline depicted as though taken in a travel photograph, conveying a distinct urban visual language inside the Le Pliage format. The other side features a handwritten postcard greeting stating, “Wish you were here!” “Love, Jeremy,” a detail that maintains Scott’s characteristic irreverence in a design that may otherwise appear merely joyful. The postcard concept operates within the framework of the collaboration: the complete “Greetings from” series has consistently regarded the Le Pliage as a memento, and “Greetings from New York” reestablishes that narrative to its geographical source.

The relationship commenced with the 2006 inauguration of Longchamp’s SoHo store, where Scott was commissioned to design a limited-edition luggage collection entitled “This is not your Bag.” The graphic and pop aesthetic he introduced, along with a subversive undertone that diverged from traditional leather goods design, provided Longchamp with an innovation it could not have produced internally. The house granted Scott complete freedom to rework Le Pliage, resulting in over 25 designs developed in the subsequent 20 years, each utilizing the folding bag’s canvas as a pop art medium rather than a mere backdrop. The designs transformed into collectible items, their prominence heightened by their presence on the arms of Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, Elle Fanning, Rita Ora, and Miley Cyrus during succeeding seasons.

The La Maison Unique retrospective provides a tangible context for the 20-year archive. Within the SoHo store, the most emblematic models from the collaboration are showcased, illustrating the partnership's progression from "This is not your Bag" to the "Greetings from" series and farther. The store's façade has a colossal replica of Scott's inaugural "Telephone" bag print on a turquoise backdrop, providing the retrospective with a street-level visibility that transcends the interior of the store. At The Shed, Longchamp's contribution to the Comité Colbert "Hidden Treasure" exhibition focuses on the Le Pliage "Greetings from Paris," a 2014 bag designed for the inauguration of the Champs-Élysées store, showcased alongside the complete array of designs collaboratively produced with Scott throughout the partnership's history.
