Filmmaker James Cameron has attained billionaire status. Forbes indicates that the 71-year-old's net worth is an impressive $1.1 billion USD, positioning him as the fifth director to enter the billionaire's club, after George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, and Tyler Perry.

Forbes additionally observes that Cameron is the sole director who has attained the majority of his billionaire status through his film revenues, which have collectively generated about $9 billion USD at the global box office. Despite the director's investments in real estate, environmental conservation, plant-based food, and deep-sea exploration, along with his established preference for creative control over financial gain, Cameron's salaries, profits, theme park revenues, toy licensing revenues, and the equity value from Lightstorm Entertainment sufficiently uphold his status.

Cameron's billionaire status is revealed shortly before the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, with Forbes estimating that the filmmaker will earn a minimum of $200 million USD (pre-tax and fees) assuming box office expectations hold true.
