While some women receive diamonds for their anniversaries, Angela Arabo, the spouse of the man who has dedicated 40 years to merging high jewellery with haute horology under the Jacob & Co. brand, received a unique gift exclusively from “Jacob the Jeweler”: a proprietary and patented diamond shape known as the “Angel Cut.” The Jacob & Co. Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut is restricted to 18 units, each priced at $3.4 million, and is available for purchase upon inquiry here.

Alongside commemorating the couple's 37 years of matrimony and the 40th anniversary of Jacob & Co.'s establishment, the Angel Cut, introduced on the Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut seen above, fulfils the mechanical function of optimising light return while minimising weight reduction. Conventional round brilliant cuts necessitate the forfeiture of a significant volume of diamond to attain maximum light return, whereas rectangular step cuts encounter the contrary issue. The Angel Cut's dimensions, angles, and transitions were meticulously crafted to optimise yield while maintaining the sophistication of rectangular stones.

At its core is a unique lozenge-shaped table, positioned within a stepped rectangular framework with chamfered corners. Jacob & Co. asserts that this distinctive geometry directs, modifies, and reflects light in a manner that produces a “luminous field with diminished extinction, softened contrast, and a more uniform glow” over the diamond's surface. The Angel Cut required two complete years of refinement to be realized, stated Jacob Arabo, creator of Jacob & Co. We were disinterested in producing another iteration of a pre-existing concept. It needed to be a genuine innovation—something more adaptable, more luminous, and more sophisticated. The presence of 37 aspects, corresponding to my 37 years of marriage with my wife Angela, imbued it with a more profound significance for me personally. On our 40th anniversary, we aimed to unveil something truly innovative yet imbued with essence.

The Angel Cut is showcased on the Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut, part of Jacob & Co.’s “Billionaire” collection of exquisitely adorned timepieces, which includes the $20 million “Billionaire Timeless Treasure” adorned with 425 ultra-rare yellow diamonds. The Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut features a substantial 54mm white gold case adorned with 98 Angel Cut diamonds, amounting to a total of 51.13 carats. Another 88 Angel Cut diamonds integrate with baguette cut stones on the dial, encircling the dual tourbillon apertures while ensuring near-perfect internal reflection and robust upward light return. The timepiece comprises 298 white diamonds totalling 79 carats. The very luminous dial conceals the JCAM50 hand-wound calibre, a mechanism comprising 460 components and characterised by two flying tourbillons located at 12 and 6 o’clock.

The Billionaire has consistently represented our most unwavering embodiment of horology and gem-setting', states Benjamin Arabov, CEO of Jacob & Co. The introduction of the Angel Cut on this platform was a calculated decision. When you create a patented cut intended to transform a diamond's interaction with light, it warrants a platform of commensurate brilliance. The Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut transcends mere rarity or carat weight. It pertains to innovation, accuracy, symmetry, and the assurance to set a new benchmark. The Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut, restricted to only 18 pieces, signifies more than an anniversary. This signifies a new era for Jacob & Co., when the House transcends traditional cutting to establish its own history in illumination.
