Established in the United States and currently manufactured in Switzerland, Hamilton reintroduces one of its less frequently showcased military references with a new Khaki Field Mechanical watch, available in two concurrently issued models. The Khaki Field Mechanical 36mm is a universally accessible model that reintroduces the design to a broader audience. Conversely, the Khaki Field Mechanical 250 special edition, designed to commemorate 250 years of American freedom, possesses a more collectible aspect. Both timepieces possess identical foundations regarding design and functionality. Their inspiration is from the uncommon FAPD 5101 navigator's watch from the 1970s and is included in Hamilton's 2026 collection, with the US edition limited to 1,776 pieces.

The Khaki Field Mechanical has served as a straightforward introduction to mechanical watches, and it has been offered in 42mm and 38mm case sizes over time. The new Khaki Field Mechanical 36mm and Khaki Field Mechanical 250 revert to the previous sizes. The 36mm stainless steel case features a matte sandblasted finish, with a thickness of 10.2mm and an 18mm lug width. It is affixed on a textile NATO strap featuring a pin clasp; the US edition additionally included a supplementary calf leather strap and commemorative packaging. Hamilton has reintroduced features such as fixed bars and an acrylic crystal, imparting a more utilitarian, tool-watch aesthetic without superfluous elements. The acrylic, box-shaped crystal features a durable coating and an anti-fingerprint treatment. This is not frequently observed today, although it complements the watch effectively and imparts a little softer appearance compared to sapphire. The dial is uncluttered and legible, featuring a matte black background, distinct white indicators, and a 24-hour inner scale.

A dust cover is also included, a minor feature derived from timepieces like as the original FAPD 5101, designed for more arduous environments when Hamilton watches were utilised by military personnel. The hands and dial utilise Super-LumiNova Grade X2. Designed for daily use, it possesses a water resistance of 100 meters. Accompanied by uncomplicated hands and sparse text, it maintains an emphasis on legibility, which is precisely the intended function of this type of watch. The interior houses Hamilton’s H-50 hand-wound movement, which has an 80-hour power reserve and is equipped with a Nivachron balancing spring for enhanced magnetic field resistance. The absence of automated winding necessitates manual winding, providing a more tactile experience of a mechanical watch on your wrist.

The classic edition of the Khaki Field Mechanical 36mm, reference H69399930, will be only manufactured in 2026 and is priced at EUR 675, while the US-exclusive Khaki Field Mechanical 250, model H89399930, is restricted to 1,776 units. For additional information, please visit hamiltonwatch.com.
