Grand Seiko has introduced the SLGB005 “Violet Dawn,” the newest Spring Drive U.F.A. model that encapsulates the tranquil elegance of a frost-laden daybreak in Shinshu’s Kirigamine Highlands. The SLGB005, the third Ice Forest model and the inaugural U.F.A. watch made from Ever-Brilliant Steel, showcases a dial with a crystalline frost texture, imbued with a deep violet hue that intensifies towards the center. This striking background highlights the smooth movement of the silver seconds hand, symbolizing the serene passage of time.

The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the Spring Drive Caliber 9RB2 architecture, including frosted bridges reminiscent of snow-covered branches and jewel bearings that glisten like mountain starlight. The quartz oscillator and sensor, aged for three months, are vacuum-sealed to protect against temperature, humidity, static, and light, while an integrated circuit-driven thermo-compensation system guarantees precision within ±20 seconds each year. A subtle regulation switch enables post-purchase adjustments, ensuring the SLGB005’s U.F.A. precision is maintained over years of usage.

The 37mm Ever-Brilliant Steel case exemplifies the design philosophy of the Evolution 9 Collection, with a combination of distortion-free Zaratsu polishing and gentle brushing. Distinctive grooved indices and sword-shaped hands provide outstanding readability against the violet dial, while the low center of gravity, along with a durable Ever-Brilliant Steel band, guarantees balanced and pleasant use.

The SLGB005 “Violet Dawn” Spring Drive U.F.A. Edition, restricted to 1,300 units globally and priced at $11,100 USD/£9,500 GBP, will be available at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners in November 2025.
