Ferrari has unveiled its latest custom creation from the elite Special Projects Programme, the SC40. This unique model, created for a private client, is an exquisite fusion of the advanced 296 GTB base and a formidable tribute to the iconic Ferrari F40 supercar.

The SC40's outward design is reminiscent of the 1980s, however it is fundamentally based on Ferrari's most sophisticated modern technology. It utilizes the same powerful powertrain as the 296 GTB: a 120-degree 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine generating 654 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque independently. The raw power is enhanced by a tiny axial-flux electric motor, strategically located between the engine and the eight-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission. The resultant hybrid power output escalates to an impressive 819 horsepower, guaranteeing that the SC40 provides the exhilarating performance anticipated from a contemporary Ferrari coupé. Ferrari stated that the car's moniker honors the F40, the iconic supercar introduced in July 1987. The SC40 reflects its acute, angular contours, artfully integrated with smoother surface transitions, imparting a modern aesthetic and a distinct, recognizable personality.

The design showcases a pronounced, elongated snout and a prominent, elevated fixed rear wing that rises vertically from the engine cover, evoking the F40’s formidable profile. Each detail contributes to the nostalgic theme, enhanced by a contemporary perspective. The rear fascia features an open mesh design for engine cooling, while the sides showcase triangular carbon-fiber highlights, representing a contemporary reworking of traditional NACA ducts. The cabin incorporates motorsport-inspired materials such as carbon-Kevlar, opulent Charcoal Alcantara, and red technical fabric.

The SC40 epitomizes Ferrari personalization, seamlessly integrating the unrefined essence of the F40 with Maranello’s cutting-edge technology. A design model of the distinctive car is currently exhibited at the Ferrari Museum, providing aficionados with a unique glimpse inside this exceptional piece of automotive artistry.
