The primary resort in Esperanza, Auberge Collection, features less than 60 rooms and suites, making it the smallest—and likely most exclusive—two-Michelin-Key establishment in Los Cabos, a notable distinction in a region saturated with five-star facilities. Situated on 17 clifftop acres, the facility has consistently been a gem in the Auberge collection, drawing celebrity patrons like Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who spent their honeymoon there; the Michelin accolade further enhances its prestige.

Situated inside the cliffs of Punta Ballena, Esperanza, Auberge Collection spans 17 acres of magnificent property on a virtually exclusive beach, enhancing its uniqueness. The resort, established by John Fair, initially opened in 2002 and underwent a significant makeover in 2015, becoming part of the esteemed Auberge Collection and positioning itself among the elite. The property is located between two picturesque bluffs on Punta Ballena, known for its resemblance to a whale's tail, where the Sea of Cortez converges with the Pacific Ocean.

The primary resort features 59 Casitas and suites distributed on a gradual hillside, guaranteeing each accommodation provides magnificent ocean vistas and private terraces. Numerous accommodations provide infinity-edge hot tubs, allowing visitors to observe the sunset over the Pacific and potentially sight whales. The casitas offer 924 square feet of indoor-outdoor living area, featuring handcrafted Mexican furniture and curated items from local artisans. The décor reflects Baja’s coastal essence with exposed wooden beams, stucco walls, and earthy hues that resonate with the adjacent desert terrain. The colour palette extends beyond fundamental earth tones into distinct categories: burnt sienna tiles, cream-hued plaster, and stone surfaces varying from volcanic rock to polished travertine. Textiles favour natural fibres, with linen window treatments, cotton upholstery, and hand-loomed wool blankets. The furnishings juxtapose substantial items like robust wooden dining tables and intricately carved armoires with lighter components such as woven Equipale chairs and hammered metal side tables. Decorative elements encompass Talavera pottery, vintage photographs of Baja California, and sculptural works by Guadalajara artisans.

Suites vary from 1,200 to 2,000 square feet, featuring a 2,000-square-foot penthouse equipped with an outdoor infinity-edge hot tub and expansive ocean vistas. The resort oversees 30 privately owned villas via Auberge Private Residences, with two to four-bedroom configurations with complete kitchens, dining spaces, and more luxurious facilities on neighbouring land. The most expansive rooms, known as Haciendas, range from 5,500 to an impressive 14,000 square feet and include a dedicated hacienda host serving as a private concierge. The most remarkable designs include stone fireplaces, private wine cellars, outdoor cooking spaces with integrated grills, private pools, and designated staff rooms for individuals accompanied by a personal entourage.

The facility features five pools that accommodate diverse preferences. Two exclusive adult pools offer serene environments for leisure, while three other pools, including a beachfront infinity pool with swim-up bar service, are accessible to all guests. The pool sections include teak loungers with cushions in neutral canvas hues, stone decking that remains cool to the touch, and palapa-covered cabanas equipped with ceiling fans and gauze curtains for shade. The private beach is a primary feature, featuring a secluded cove with concierge service, beach beds, and umbrellas, along with food and beverages available throughout the day.

Dining at Esperanza focuses on Cocina del Mar, the resort's renowned restaurant situated on the rocky cliffs of Punta Ballena, providing an unparalleled romantic ambiance with tables on terraces extending over the pounding surf. The menu features Baja-inspired cuisine, highlighting locally sourced seafood, like lobster cavatelli, the esteemed Totoaba fish, and tuna tiradito. Consuming them in this context is an experience that should not be overlooked. La Palapa functions as the resort's informal outdoor dining establishment, providing delectable Mexican cuisine in a coastal and poolside environment, featuring a swim-up bar. Ceviches, tacos crafted in the al fresco kitchen, and margaritas are the day's offerings. La Terraza Americana offers poolside dining including American favourites such as burgers and sandwiches, while Las Estrellas, situated in a verdant garden within the Private Residences portion, serves signature pizzas, bruschetta, and sirloin.

The Lounge Bar is an appealing seaside establishment featuring artisanal cocktails, an extensive tequila collection, and a humidor for cigar aficionados. Weekly, Esperanza organises Colores y Sabores, a genuine Mexican festivity on the seaside terrace showcasing regional delicacies from Baja and Oaxaca, accompanied by live music, fireworks, an outdoor marketplace, and an abundance of beverages.

The Spa at Esperanza has been acknowledged as the premier spa in Mexico and Latin America by Travel & Leisure. Visitors access a desert oasis through wooden gates, encircled by indigenous flora and sheltered by a traditional palapa roof. The facility comprises nine therapy rooms, several of which are indoor-outdoor settings that enable the auditory experience of the ocean during treatments. The spa's distinctive aquathermal experience features a steam room, jacuzzi, and outdoor relaxation lounge.

Treatments are structured around the Medicine Wheel, an ancient framework that integrates the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions. The spa relies significantly on local products and artisanal botanicals, utilising resources that naturally thrive in the Baja ecosystem. In addition to the spa, wellness programming offers more than 15 complimentary workout programs each week. Beach boot camp courses utilise the sand and waves, whereas TRX training and yoga lessons occur in the specialised movement studio. Guests may also utilise the cutting-edge fitness center, tennis courts, and newly established pickleball courts. Common activities encompass whale watching, equestrian excursions along the beach or through desert gorges, sea kayaking, sailing, surfing instruction, and swimming with whale sharks. Championship golf courses, crafted by acclaimed architects and integrated into the seaside terrain, are located within minutes from the property. The resort offers desert racing adventures for land adventurers, allowing visitors to drive across the Baja wilderness, as well as private helicopter trips that provide aerial views of the confluence of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.
