Stripping back excess, the watch turns attention toward its exposed mechanics and structural clarity.

The Parisian brand Bell & Ross has consistently utilised open dials, showcasing the movement rather than concealing it. The BR-X3 range aligns seamlessly with the brand's circle-within-a-square design philosophy established in 2005. The new BR-X3 Micro-Rotor retains the concept of last year’s BR-X3 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor, albeit featuring a more straightforward movement. The movement is entirely visible and incorporated into the case, rather than merely contained within it. Created in collaboration with Concepto, the micro-rotor calibre maintains a slim profile and an intuitive layout. Restricted to 99 units, it perpetuates Bell & Ross' emphasis on showcasing mechanics prominently.
This device lacks a conventional dial, instead featuring a configuration of bridges and components organised in a grid pattern. The time is shown by two center hands infused with luminescence, but the remaining area is unobstructed, allowing visibility of the intricate mechanisms in operation. The absence of a seconds hand is notable; nonetheless, the balance wheel positioned at 4 o’clock imparts a continuous impression of movement. The 40mm steel case features smooth finishing and polishing, according to the famous BR-03 design, characterised by its four exposed screws and square silhouette. In this configuration, the case and movement are integrated as a singular entity, with the center plate serving as both the framework and foundation. Sapphire crystals on either side provide visibility, allowing light to traverse the many surfaces and finishes of the BR-X3 Micro-Rotor.

The BR-X3 Micro-Rotor is powered by the patented automatic BR-CAL.390 movement, developed by Concepto for Bell & Ross. A micro-rotor is incorporated within the movement rather than a full rotor positioned atop, facilitating a reduction in thickness while enhancing visibility of the mechanism. It provides a 48-hour power reserve while maintaining a total thickness of about 9mm, which is very slender.
The appearance remains predominantly monochromatic, including steel and grey hues across the bridges and plates. Finishes range from brushed to microblasted surfaces, with polished edges that interact with light and contrast. The BR-X3 Micro-Rotor, priced at EUR 22,000, is affixed to a grey calfskin strap featuring a faux alligator design, matching the watch's hue.
