British sculptor Alex Chinneck has brought his signature surrealist touch to Dior's top US boutiques, installing 14 whimsical works that visually reshape the architecture of the luxury storefronts.

Alex Chinneck's recent works for Dior are infusing the House with a touch of architectural playfulness. The British artist is recognized for his whimsical public works that distort our perspective of urban existence, and in his forthcoming endeavor, he has come to the flagship locations in New York and Los Angeles with a narrative of two cities.

The House of Dior New York showcases nine new sculptures that reinterpret the vibrancy of Madison Avenue through a surrealist perspective: A bouquet of contorted traffic lights radiates in green, yellow, and red; street lamps are "bent in bows to evoke couture ribbons, threads, and drapery," according to a statement from Dior; a yellow taxi appears to soften and melt against the glass facade.

Likewise, the Los Angeles version draws upon the grandeur of the avenue in five pieces. Automobile culture and aerodynamic design take center stage, particularly exemplified by a red vehicle executing a complete loop. A mannequin gently sways from a crooked streetlight, embodying the city's cinematic charm.

Commemorating the inaugural anniversary of the Peter Marino-designed rooms, the commissions honor Dior's illustrious history in the United States, which the House describes as "genuine visual poems. Alex Chinneck's works are being exhibited at the House of Dior in New York and Beverly Hills.
