The commencement of road trials signifies the off-roader's reemergence following a significant break.

The automotive sector is currently engaged in testing the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabriolet, marking the return of the iconic convertible off-roader after a prolonged hiatus. In reaction to an extraordinarily positive response to first teases, Mercedes has swiftly sent prototypes to public roads in Austria for thorough dynamic evaluations.
The newest iteration of the open-top Geländewagen is set to revolutionise the luxury SUV sector. This version will be a more functional four-door convertible, featuring a power-operated retractable soft-top fabric roof, unlike the discontinued two-door soft-top model. The design preserves the G-Wagen's characteristic angular profile and sturdy resilience while offering an exhilarating open-air driving experience.

Mercedes-Benz experts are presently collecting extensive data to verify the structural integrity and manoeuvrability of the open-top chassis. The rigorous testing schedule will escalate once the prototypes are transported to Sweden for extreme winter trials. This cold-weather testing will challenge the vehicle’s components, guaranteeing that the cabriolet maintains the renowned off-road performance and durability characteristic of the G-Class, irrespective of climate conditions. The special edition G-Class Cabriolet is anticipated to make its complete premiere and launch in 2026, if testing progresses satisfactorily.
