Grand Seiko introduced four new timepieces, comprising two GMT variants and two Quartz models.

Grand Seiko is augmenting its core collections with four new watches, unveiling two automatic mechanical GMT models in the Elegance Collection and two quartz models in the Heritage Collection. The latest releases from the Japanese brand uphold its tradition of encapsulating the transient beauty of the Japanese landscape in its timepieces, drawing inspiration from natural phenomena in the Shinshu region, including the melting snow under spring sunlight and the subtle glimmer of dew drops beneath autumn moonlight. Examine the range below and monitor Grand Seiko’s official website for the formal release of the watches in December.

The SBGX357 “Skyflake” is a recent quartz addition to the Heritage Collection, easily identifiable by its unique light blue dial. The textured dial is inspired by the snow-laden mountains of Shinshu beneath a beautiful sky. This features a tempered blue seconds hand and is safeguarded by a dual-curve sapphire crystal. The watch is equipped with the Caliber 9F62 quartz movement, celebrated for its accuracy of ±10 seconds annually. The "Skyflake," set to launch in December, has a selling price of $4,100 USD.

“Moondrop” conjures the serene illumination of autumnal moonlight, and “Snowdrop” encapsulates the ephemeral elegance of melting snow during the transition from winter to spring. The patterned white dial mirrors the glisten of snowmelt in sunshine, a poetic reference to the seasonal vistas surrounding the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in Iwate Prefecture. The 39.5mm stainless steel case, box-shaped sapphire crystal, and crocodile leather strap reflect the brand’s quintessential GMT design, providing enduring elegance. Similar to its counterpart, the timepiece is powered by the dependable Caliber 9S66 GMT movement and encased in a 39.5mm stainless steel housing. Both the “Moondrop” and “Snowdrop” will be formally available in December, at a price of $5,400 USD.

This reference exemplifies Grand Seiko's quartz artistry, housed in a 37mm stainless steel case with a slender profile. The deep, sunray blue dial offers a bright yet subtle elegance, with a date display at 3 o’clock and polished indices that improve legibility. The core of the timepiece is the Caliber 9F62 quartz movement, providing an exceptional accuracy of ±10 seconds annually, akin to that of the “Skyflake.” The SBGX265 features durable construction and an instantaneous date-change mechanism, exemplifying the Heritage Collection's ethos of timeless design reimagined with contemporary accuracy, priced at $2,700 USD.

SBGM257 “Moondrop”

Part of the Elegance Collection, “Moondrop” is an automatic mechanical GMT that captures a moment of seasonal beauty: dew drops shimmering in gentle moonlight. The watch features a rich navy-blue textured dial adorned with a contemporary geometric spiral design. This elaborate design evokes the glimmer of dew drops in moonlight, forming a striking contrast with the gold-hued GMT hand that indicates time throughout 24 time zones. The Caliber 9S66 automatic GMT features dual time functionality, a 72-hour power reserve, and an accuracy range of +5 to -3 seconds each day. The tempered blue 24-hour hand provides a nuanced embellishment, while the sapphire caseback showcases the intricately adorned movement. The “Moondrop” combines timeless elegance with contemporary sophistication, characterized by lugs that exhibit a complex slope and reflective surfaces achieved through meticulous Zaratsu polishing, culminating in a refined and graceful appearance.
