I Bring Home with Me is exhibited at Roberts Projects from January 17 to March 21., is centred around a partnership with architect Glenn DeRoche.

In his third solo exhibition with Roberts Projects, modern artist Amoako Boafo is merging the boundaries between creation and exhibition. The exhibition, entitled I Bring Home with Me, conveys the sensory essence of Accra, Ghana to Los Angeles by literally replicating the artist's studio within the gallery space.
The exhibition, commencing on January 17, is centred around a partnership with architect Glenn DeRoche. The work transcends mere backdrop; it serves as a 1:1 scale investigation of "home" as a fluid concept. Visitors approach through a vivid monstera-patterned wallpaper entrance into a structure characterised by grid windows and illuminated corridors that blur the distinction between interior and exterior.

Within this transformed refuge, Boafo showcases a new collection of portraits created using his distinctive fingertip painting method. Renowned for his intimate, gaze-centric portrayals of Black subjectivity, Boafo incorporates these pieces directly into the studio's "walls" and within a folding wooden sculpture inspired by the Adinkra symbol nkyinkyim ("twisting"), honouring tenacity.
By welcoming spectators inside this area, Boafo deconstructs the conventional white cube, presenting a dynamic atmosphere that reflects the communal and versatile essence of his actual workstation. The exhibition provides a unique insight into the "elsewhere within here"—a fusion of personal recollection, familial heritage, and the physical environments that define Black identity.
