The final installment of Paul Allen’s art collection sale, following two record-breaking auctions, is scheduled for May 2023. The recent auctions conducted by Christie’s generated US$1.62 billion, resulting in 155 masterpieces acquiring new owners.

A collection of seven paintings is anticipated to achieve over US$30 million at Christie’s 20th-century art evening auction in New York. Notable works feature contributions from prominent painters such as Georgia O’Keeffe, David Hockney, and Edward Hopper.

Art enthusiasts can anticipate acquiring artworks such as “White Calico Rose” (1930) by O’Keeffe, in addition to two others: “On the Old Santa Fe Road” (1930-1) and “Black Iris VI” (1936). Among the trio of masterpieces, “White Calico Rose” is anticipated to yield up to US$8 million, while the other two may achieve US$6 million and US$7 million, respectively.

Hockney’s “Felled Trees” (2008) is anticipated to fetch US$6 million, while his other two paintings, “The Gate” (2000) and “Early Blossom, Woldgate” (2009), may sell for up to US$8 million and US$7 million, respectively.

David Hockney's "The Gate" concludes the examination of works with Edward Hopper's watercolor picture, "Coast Guard Cove," created in 1929. The anticipated sale price is between US$600,000 and US$800,000.

In the accompanying press statement for the sale, Johanna Flaum, Christie’s vice chairman of 20th- and 21st-century art, stated: “This profoundly personal collection provides a comprehensive insight into Mr. Allen’s interests and preferences, particularly regarding David Hockney and Georgia O’Keeffe.”

The artworks demonstrate his enduring affiliation with New Mexico, encompassing the state's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage, as well as the location of Microsoft's establishment in 1975.

The deceased co-founder of Microsoft endorsed various painters from New Mexico, including O’Keeffe. He purchased O’Keeffe’s former residence in Santa Fe, known as the Sol y Sombra estate, in 2000. This property is currently available for purchase for a price of US$15 million.

Similar to the previous auction in November, all earnings will be allocated to the charities that Allen specified before his demise.
