A Desert Landscape Reimagined Through Scent

Maison Francis Kurkdjian expands its fabric-inspired fragrance universe with OUD velvet mood Extrait de parfum, a composition conceived around the tactile allure of velvet and the lingering warmth of the desert.

The fragrance traces its inspiration to Francis Kurkdjian's experience among the dunes of Liwa in the Persian Gulf. As sand warmed by the day's sun takes on an unexpectedly soft, almost textile-like quality after nightfall, that sensory contrast becomes the starting point for a scent designed to feel as evocative on the skin as velvet beneath the fingertips.

Oud Meets Peach and Suede

At the heart of OUD velvet mood lies a dialogue between intensity and softness. Raw oud wood brings depth and an animalic character, while peach introduces a luminous, velvety sweetness that softens its darker edges. Osmanthus contributes leathery and apricot-like nuances, complemented by a supple suede accord that gives the composition an intimate, skin-like finish.

The result bridges the heritage of oud with the precision of contemporary French perfumery. Rather than allowing the precious wood to dominate entirely, Kurkdjian surrounds it with contrasting textures, creating a fruity and woody composition that feels warm, enveloping and quietly opulent.

Dark as Night, Illuminated by Gold

The visual identity follows the same play of contrasts. OUD velvet mood is presented in Maison Francis Kurkdjian's signature square bottle, rendered in dark tinted glass with sharply defined facets. A sculptural gold-toned cap and the house's double-K monogram add flashes of light against the deeper tones of the flacon.

The interplay of darkness and radiance echoes the fragrance itself, where smoky, resinous oud is balanced by the softer brightness of fruit and suede.

Released as an Extrait de parfum, OUD velvet mood is offered in 35ml and 70ml formats. In the United States, Maison Francis Kurkdjian currently lists the fragrance at $310 for 35ml and $475 for 70ml, available through the house's official online boutique.
