A Rich Inheritance of a Storied Past

Their narrative is imbued with centuries of history. Constructed in the 16th century as the private residence of the esteemed humanist Angelo Maria Colocci, the edifice subsequently became the site of the illustrious Nazarene College, overseen by San Giuseppe Calasanzio. This was an extraordinary palace — a dynamic center of education, accommodating intellectuals, lords, and pontiffs. Over the years, it endured Napoleon's occupancy, the tumultuous Nazi rule, and evolved into a congregation site for some of Italy's most prominent filmmakers and artists.

Currently, the Palazzo exemplifies a remarkable fusion of Rome's illustrious heritage with modern opulence. After a thorough restoration initiated in 2021, this architectural masterpiece integrates old frescoes and masonry with contemporary design principles, preserving the essence of its rich history while adopting modern luxury. “Palazzo Talìa transcends impersonal hotel chains and uniform luxury,” asserts Elia Federici, the mastermind behind this amalgamation of antiquity and modernity. “It is a palace designed to reflect the amalgamation of three centuries of history while incorporating a modern aesthetic.”

Guadagnino’s Cinematic Touch: A Singular Vision

Luca Guadagnino, the director of Call Me By Your Name and Suspiria, meticulously created the interiors of Palazzo Talìa, merging his creative acumen with profound reverence for the building's historical significance. Guadagnino infused his distinctive cinematic style into the hotel's communal areas, encompassing the restaurant, bar, wellness spa, and the opulent Terrace Suite through his studio, studiolucaguadagnino. The vibrant design, abundant in color and texture, establishes the ambiance of the hotel.

A massive carpet, designed by the esteemed Nigel Peake, traverses the hotel’s interior, its vibrant hues serving as a visual guide that encourages guests to explore the area. The Terrace Suite features peach wood paneling and subdued pink tones, creating an intimate and inviting atmosphere, while providing expansive views of a lush inner courtyard filled with tropical foliage. “This establishment transcends mere hospitality; it is a theatrical venue, replete with unexpected delights at every corner,” asserts Elia Federici.

Home Away from Home

This exceptional boutique stay distinguishes itself by seamlessly integrating the gravitas of ancient history with the conveniences of contemporary living. “Our objective was to offer guests a residence reminiscent of home,” elucidates Federici. The conventional Roman dwelling, characterized by its lavish architectural elements, has been reinterpreted with a casual, modern aesthetic.

Every facet of the hotel radiates a personal touch, from the custom furnishings to the selected artworks that embellish the walls. The hotel comprises 26 uniquely designed rooms, crafted by a team of skilled architects, including the all-female design studio Mia Home Design Gallery and Laura Feroldi Studio. Each space embodies a harmonious blend of classic elegance and contemporary flair through bespoke furnishings and meticulously selected artworks. The colors and textures have been meticulously selected, with elements like as colorful bathroom tiles, wrought-iron canopy beds, and round sofas in hues of pink and burgundy, creating an ambiance akin to a personal sanctuary in each location.

Gastronomy That Tells a Story

The gastronomic experience here is profoundly enriched by both history and flavor. The hotel’s restaurant, Tramae, draws inspiration from the 19th-century Grand Tour, a time when tourists explored Italy’s renowned landscapes and sampled the culinary specialties of each province. Chef Marco Coppola has designed a cuisine that encompasses Italy's varied culinary traditions, featuring dishes influenced by the canals of Venice, the hills of Florence, and the sun-drenched coasts of Sorrento.

Every dinner is a journey through flavors, featuring the Federici family’s distinctive dishes, such la milanese con osso (a veal shank stew) and vitello tonnato, alongside Roman favorites like ravioli alla vaccinara and sumptuous artichokes and potatoes millefeuille. The hotel emphasizes its farm-to-table philosophy, procuring numerous items from the Federici family's organic farm in the adjacent countryside, which features verdant gardens, olive orchards, and pasture-raised livestock.

A Sanctuary of Wellness and Design

The hotel’s wellness spa provides a tranquil retreat, blending contemporary elements with Roman heritage. The wellness area showcases verdant majolica tiles created by Spanish artisans, reflecting the enduring essence of Rome's architectural legacy. Each element has been meticulously crafted to provide an experience that is both opulent and soothing, allowing guests a sanctuary to relax following a day of discovery.

Timeless Experience

More than a hotel; it is an invitation to enter a realm where history, design, and contemporary luxury mix together. From its cinematic interiors to its culinary offerings, each moment at the hotel embodies a segment of a big narrative. Whether exploring the historic alleys of Rome or partaking in a tailored gastronomic experience, Palazzo Talìa guarantees an indelible experience – a venue where history and modernity converge in an exceptional manner.

Inaugurated in May 2024, Palazzo Talìa has emerged as a remarkable monument in the Eternal City, enchanting the hearts and minds of all visitors. This event commemorates the city's illustrious history, reimagined for the discriminating traveler who desires both opulence and a genuine connection to the past, present, and future.
